How to prepare Kefir Coconut Water at home

There are three possibilities: you can use kefir grains – which is the most economical and the most practical way, you can use existing kefir as a starter or kefir starter culture. In this article, we are going to present you the first option.


  • 7 cups of fresh coconut water
  • 5 tablespoons of kefir grains


In the gallon jar, add 7 cups of fresh coconut water and then add the kefir grains. Cover and leave it to fermentate for about 48 hours , but no longer  because it may explode.
After this time when the fermentation process is finished, the water will be lighter in color and the kefir grains will rise up to the top. Now you need to remove these kefir grains, and you can either use them to make more kefir coconut water or you can store them into the fridge, to the next use.
