10 Dream Symbols You Should Never Ignore

2 years

People have been fascinated by dreams and symbols for thousands of years. Carl Jung, the famous 19th century psychotherapist, concluded that looking into dreams was like opening a door into consciousness and the spirit world. But, there is a whole science behind sleep.

Recently, a team of scientists at the ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratory based in Kyoto, Japan, examined several brain scans while looking for visual dream imagery. They found that we watch our dreams in the same manner like we watch our waking world.

If we want to learn to analyze our dreams, we must study how we participate in our daily activities. Are dreams a replay of the visual stimuli we receive during the day? What do the symbols mean? Here are 10 dream symbols you should never ignore!

  1. Flying

Dreaming of flying is as indication of a need to reach ambition. These dreams leave us recharged when we wake up, and there’s a feeling of freedom and being able to achieve anything.

Dreaming of teeth being pulled out means that something will come out, while rotten teeth indicate the holding of fear and anxiety. Falling teeth are the most widespread teeth dreams and are usually associated with stressful things like a new job, fear of loss, lack of power in a relationship or hidden lies. If you see teeth in your dreams, ask yourself these questions: How do you feel about your teeth? How are you nourishing your life?

Death is the termination of ego parts – anxiety and anger can die for example, and a situation can die as well. There’s the death of an idea or the birth of another. Dreaming of death is a psychological aspect of some great emotional change. If you dream of death often, try to remember if it was you who died or a loved one. 1. Houses

House dreams symbolize the self as well as the different personality aspects. Depending on the type of house and the number of rooms you dream about, the interpretation can vary, although all house dreams are about security and comfort. If you dream of houses, ask yourself, do you take care of your body? How do you see yourself in the world?

  1. Adultery

Dreaming of adultery symbolizes your sexual desires and urges which are suppressed or need to be expressed. These type of dreams also symbolize abandonment and fears, self-worth issues and unconscious acceptance of a problematic relationship. If you dream of adultery often, ask yourself if you’re afraid of losing the loved one? Are you unhappy in your relationship? How do you feel about your figure and your sexual desires?

  1. Fire

Fire dreams have different meaning – if you dream of fire in the distance it symbolizes desire and transformation, while playing with fire indicates risky activities. Nakedness in dreams symbolizes the acceptance of flaws and imperfections. Dreams are episodes of our lives that can be analyzed in many ways, but only the dreamer can figure out the true emotional state of the dream. The aforementioned symbols are only a small part of the world of night visions – the mind, body and spirit are intertwined and how we see ourselves plays over during our sleep as well. The mind always tries to dictate our emotions through short visions. For example, anxiety or anger can have a big effect on the way we sleep.

“Dreams…are invariably seeking to express something that the ego does not know and does not understand.” – Carl Jung
