You Will Never Have To Scrub A Toilet AGAIN If You Make These DIY Toilet Cleaning Bombs
The bathroom should be the cleanest part of your home, and it can be easily maintained if everyone helped a little. If you’ve got kids, you should show them how they can help every time they’re done with the bathroom.
What do toilet cleaners contain?
Bathroom cleaners are often full of dangerous chemicals which can put your health and the health of those around you at risk. For example, when the chlorine from the bleach is mixed with acid, it creates a toxic gas not unlike the one used in the World Wars. Bleach is a dangerous irritant which can burn your skin or anything it comes in contact with. Bathroom cleaning products also contain 10-50% of hydrochloric acid, which is related to kidney damage and respiratory tract irritation. Some brands contain fragrances which can cause damage to your respiratory airways when inhaled, and can even cause allergic reactions and headaches. Certain bathroom cleaning products have even been found to contain hormone disruptors!
With everything harmful found in them, why don’t you try these homemade toilet bowl cleaners which work just as well, if not better? Here’s what you need to make them:
½ a cup of baking soda
½ a cup of citric acid
½ a cup of cornstarch
Water in a spray bottle
25 drops of some essential oil
Big Ziploc baggie
A muffin mold
Put all the ingredients sans the essential oil in the baggie, close it well and shake. Now, open the baggie and add 2-3 spritzes of water, then close it and knead for 5-7 minutes, until the mixture is as close to a pie dough texture as possible. It’s ready when you squeeze a handful and it stays like that. If the bag gets puffy while kneading, open it a little and let some air in – the puffiness is caused by the fizzy reaction of citric acid and baking soda. You should be careful not to make it too watery, though.
In the end, add the essential oil and knead again, then pack the mixture into the muffin molds, leaving it to dry for 2 days. After that, take the pieces out carefully and leave them to dry for 2 days again. That’s it – now you have DIY powerful toilet cleaning “bombs” which will ease your bathroom cleaning!
Drop one in the bowl and let it fizz for a while, then scrub the sides (if needed) and flush in the end – yes, it’s that easy!
