No One Dies Young In This Italian City!
There’s a town on the west coast of Italy which has an astonishing number of hundred-year old people. According to scientists who are interested in the matter, no one dies young in this Italian town!
Scientists will soon conduct a new research on the people living in the town of Acciaroli in Italy. The study will be conducted by American and Italian scientists.
Acciaroli lies on the west coast of southern Italy and currently has about 2000 senior citizens over 100 years old! Acciaroli is famous for the low rate of heart diseases and Alzheimer’s, but this is the first time a scientific research takes place. “The goal of the research is to find how come there are so many people over the age of 100 still alive in that town. We will do a complete genetic analysis as well as examine their dietary habits and exercise routines,” says Dr. Alan Maisel, a professor of cardiovascular health at the School of Medicine in San Diego, California. “The results of the study could be fundamental for our research in San Diego and for all patients worldwide,” he added. The citizens of Acciaroli mainly eat a Mediterranean diet which is rich in fish and olive oil.
They often use rosemary during food preparation. This plant has long been known to contain compounds which improve a person’s memory, brain function and vision. Studies have also shown that rosemary has strong anti-inflammatory properties and is a great ally in the fight against tumors.
However, the citizens of Acciaroli, a town which was supposedly the inspiration behind Hemingway’s “The Old Man and The Sea”, say that the secret to their longevity are the regular long walks. They will have to answer a lot of questions during the research, and they will also have their blood analyzed in order to determine what’s hiding behind their perfect health.
