There are lots of methods to make hair grow faster and they’re not all equally effective. That’s why you need to find out which one works the best for you, trying out the various homemade recipes that we’ll give you in today’s article.
Make your hair grow faster: is it possible?
If you recently got a hair cut and just don’t like it, you probably don’t have months or even years to wait for it to grow back out on its own – you need a better option. It’s not as impossible as it may seem, but is in fact quite simple. Here are some tips that might surprise you:
Cut your hair more often
Contrary to what you might think, trimming the ends of your hair can actually make it grow faster. This is because it will be stronger. Split ends don’t allow your hair to grow as quickly as it naturally should. You should also bear in mind that the phase of the moon makes a difference (for example, when it’s a waxing crescent moon hair grows most quickly).
Massage your scalp
If you feel like it, you can do this yourself, or you can ask your partner or perhaps the person who works at your beauty salon to massage your scalp. All you need to do is put a few drops of essential oil (or olive oil, if you have it on hand and prefer) on your fingertips and massage it into your scalp for a few minutes before showering. You can also use baby oil. The reason this works is because moisturized skin on the scalp promotes faster hair growth.
Use egg whites
The proteins and nutrients in egg whites are excellent for hair growth. This is great for times when nothing else seems to be working. Egg whites contain vitamins that benefit the overall nutrition of the hair.
Just crack two eggs, discard the yolks, and give the egg whites a good whisk before applying them to your hair. Massage it into your scalp and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse well with warm water, then shampoo normally. In addition to growing faster, your hair will also look more shiny and healthy.
Drink more water
Hydration is another very important factor, so do your best to drink at least two liters of water a day. And if it’s really hot or summertime, up it to three liters. This is such a simple thing you can do that has tons of benefits. It hydrates your organs, skin, and by extension, your hair. If you don’t enjoy the taste of plain water, drink cold herbal teas or smoothies instead.
Brush your hair
Before you wash your hair, be sure to brush it for a few minutes, always using the same movement from the scalp to the ends so you stretch the hair shaft. There’s no need to spend hours in front of the mirror untangling each strand, mind you. But you should brush your hair once or twice a day to stimulate the hair follicles.
Avoid using hair dryers and curling irons
If you’re used to blow drying your hair or using the curling iron, you should really cut back on these tools unless its absolutely necessary – when it’s very cold out and you have to get ready in a hurry, for example. At the very least try to limit your use of the hair dryer, as this will make your hair grow noticeably faster.
Try birth control pills (but not the way you think)
This hasn’t been scientifically proven, but plenty of women try it. You don’t swallow your pills, but rather you apply them to your hair. Just grind four or five contraceptive pills and add them to the bottle of shampoo you use on a regular basis. This will make your hair grow faster, while making it thicker and more healthy.
Sleep with your hair in a braid
Before you go to bed, put your hair in a braid. If it’s very short, just make two or three small braids. Remember to do this while the hair is damp (after a shower or bath is the perfect time). Get a good night’s sleep and comb out the braid in the morning. Repeat every night for a week.
Use essential oils
Grape seed oil is excellent for promoting hair growth. Just apply a few drops to your entire scalp using a gentle massage. That will help stimulate the hair follicles.
Another interesting choice is coconut oil, which gives you more beautiful, shiny, and healthy hair – in addition to making it grow faster. Massage a few drops of warm coconut oil into your scalp once a week. But make sure it doesn’t irritate your skin.
Still a third alternative you can choose from is rosemary oil. This medicinal herb is great for hair health. Just add two tablespoons of dried rosemary leaves in half a cup of olive oil that’s been heated to just before boiling. Let it cool and leave it to stand for two days. Strain off the oil and save it in a jar. Use this oil to massage your scalp right after you wash your hair.
Potatoes, more precisely potato milk (or water) is a great way to make your hair grow faster because it also adds volume, makes it look healthier, and prevents breakage. That’s because it packs a lot of vitamins, especially B vitamins. Boil two raw potatoes with their skin on in a liter of water. Let the liquid cool and then strain it. Use this as a rinse after you shampoo your hair.
