This Is Why You Should Lose Weight by Walking, Not Running!
Nowadays, more and more research proves that walking is better way to lose fat than running. In this article we present you the reasons why walking is better than running in the weight loss process.
Lose Weight by Walking
1. Running is a cardio exercise that reduces the calories both in the fat and in the muscles. By running you cannot only burn the fats in your body. The muscle mass also decreases.
2. The production of cortisol, stress hormone, is increased by intensive cardio exercising. This hormone increases the food cravings since you body wants to substitute the calories that you have burned with the cardio exercises. You will not only substitute the burned calories, but also consume even more calories if you do intensive cardio exercises.
The same effect as sleep deprivation happens, after an intense cardio exercise because you are leptin-resistant. Your body cannot feel full. The extreme hunger causes resistance to insulin and the increased production of cortisol causes immediate weight gain.
The thyroid gland can also be negatively affected by cardio exercising. Your thyroid gland produces T4-hormone. This hormone is transformed into T3-hormone, a hormone that regulates the function of your metabolism. The increased levels of cortisol prevent the gland to produce the T4-hormone. Your metabolism is not functioning properly, it is unable to burn fat and you lose energy.
3. Long running periods can harm your knees and joints since you are banging your feet into the ground for a long time.
In conclusion, running reduces muscle mass, causes dysfunction of the metabolism and imbalance of the hormones. This leads to weight gain and injuries of the knees and other joints.
In comparison walking is a better alternative even though you burn fewer calories. The cortisol levels are decreased not increased. You are sensitive to insulin so you burn calories and you don’t have cravings. You are motivated and healthy because the production of serotonin and dopamine is increased.
Take a 30 or 60-minute walk three times a week. Increase the walk days to 6 as soon as possible. It will be even better for your overall health if you do stress relief activities as well. A proper diet and doing metabolic resistance exercises for 30 minutes are also excellent for having a good looking body.
