Aloe vera is a plant found in tropical and subtropical regions. It belongs to the cacti family.
The plant has no stem, only leaves with 75-120 cm of length. Aloe vera has light green color and it is shaped in a form of a rose with yellow or red flower in the middle of the shaft.

There are more than 200 species of Aloe but the most beneficial when it comes to healing is Aloe Barbadensis Miller (Aloe vera). This amazing herb was named after Phillip Miller, a botanist who discovered this plant in the island of Barbados. Aloe is mentioned in the Bible, and legend tells that Alexander the Great used to treat his soldiers with Aloe when they conquered the island of Socotra in the Indian Ocean, where the plant was found in large quantities.
