ARE DERMATOLOGISTS THE NEW THERAPY?

People like to talk and figure out their problems that way, which leads some people to ponder the question are dermatologists the new therapy?

Women who have a long-standing relationship with a dermatologist do not find the visit stressful but instead draw relaxation from the time spent there and the fact they are living with healthier and mor attractive skin as a result.

Recent Trends Show Dermatologist Doubles as Confidant

Some women entrust their dermatologist with their issues and fears, allowing them to discuss the problem and receive some feedback that helps them process the situation and move forward. Psychologists who study the trend say that women share issues with their appearance in the hope of finding help to change that issue. When that works, they also share relationship problems or other life dilemmas in hopes that the dermatologist can fix those as well.

More Cosmetic Procedures Lead to Regular Dermatologist Visits

Women take trips to the dermatologist now as often as they go to the salon. They have peels and fillers, botox and other procedures meant to improve their appearance. At times, this is to make up for the other areas of their life they find lacking. The dermatologist, when picking up on this, can listen to the concerns and help the person feel better or sometimes can steer them in a better direction than multiple procedures because another area feels unfulfilled.

Women who depend on their dermatologist to fix their appearance and thereby the rest of their lives can end up disappointed. They develop an unhealthy dependence on their dermatologist and feel lost when they run out of procedures to undergo. Savvy dermatologists head them off before they get all the work done, suggesting they improve other areas of their lives first and then consider the procedures they want at the moment. Most women find they are more satisfied with their looks once they work on their careers or friendships. Women also have a lot of skin conditions related to stress. Minimizing their stress in their jobs or relationships improve their skin appearance as well.

Some dermatologists have this advice to relay “Don’t attempt to make changes to your appearance when you are struggling with depression or have recently ended a relationship or hit another big change in your life. Instead, focus on being relaxed and trying to find a life coach to get things back on track.”

This will save a lot of money for procedures that in the end won’t help in the way you are hoping anyway. Women should focus on treating themselves to some new items that help them feel better about themselves, like a flattering outfit or some new lingerie. Then, you can see where else you want your life to change and stay out of the dermatologist’s office.

Dermatologists also advise that chasing an ideal that isn’t realistic is not the way to find happiness. Instead, focus on setting goals and achieving them, rather than attempting to re-do your appearance when that isn’t the issue at stake.
